This is the house that Paul W. built.
Most call him “Abe.” I called him “Honest Abe.”
He was a friend to all, and it was your stomach
that was always on his mind.
He gave away more food than he ever sold. Boy
could he cook, and he just loved his music.
Just don’t mess with the waitress!
Hard luck was his middle name. His place burned to
the ground, but that didn’t stop him.
He, along with one of his female cooks, a
waitress, dishwasher and two men both 75 years old that never wore
tool bags, but it all together again.
Better than Humpty Dumpty, it was back together.
One thing about Honest Abe, was that he always got
in the last word…..till the day the old fart passed on…..
Leaving no one a good reply. Damn, I loved that
old man.
Feeding people was what he loved the best. VJ’s
Blue Eye diner will carry on.
Under new management, fully remodeled, new menu’s
that include specials that are going to be out of this world.
Fridays and Saturdays will include all new music.
Miss VJ is up and running just fine.
I only hope I can do that well when I’m that
YOUNG.
She will be around from time to time to greet you
and talk awhile. Sunday will have the familiar Sunday Special of
fried chicken and mashed potatoes, which are the best in the world!
We are known for our chicken. You think the Colonel had secret herbs
and Spices?
Abe was the Master and passed it down, that way
the chicken will carry on his name.
Friday and Saturday night, along with the band
will be smoked ribs, hamburgers and hotdogs. I’m not talking smoked
in an hour…. I’m talking smoked for the better part of the day
Get there early, they are in high demand.
in Blue Eye Mo
Driving Sough on Hwy 13, you will come to the town
of Blue Eye. Pass the school, the Mayors home and on the left side,
you will see the Post Office with the American flag. Under the flag
will be the VJ’s Blue Eye Diner sign. Keep in mind, both the Post
Office and the Blue Eye Diner are over 100 years old. Don’t look at
the outside…come on in, you will see, the inside is very nice. VJ
herself decorated it. She shopped around the countryside with Abe to
find all the hard to find knick-knacks and historical photos on
display.
You will find over 20 photos of the Blue Eye Diner
in earlier days. Come on in, sit down and order, then enjoy looking
around…before you know it, your food will be at your table.
I can hear Abe now "Due to the price of hides
going down, we no longer except road kill for lunch!"
There is plenty of parking both at the restaurant,
both in front and across the street. Keep in mind, you will be close
to the Arkansas state line so feel free to take pictures !Across the
street you will see another nice place to relax with picnic tables
lots of beautiful trees and nice shade.
It is well worth the trip down here....
Gpood Food, Great People!
Come sit awhile.
